About
Vivian Wiebe is an educator and artist living in Turner Valley, Alberta, with her husband Dave. Her son, Ryan, and his wife, Hanneke, moved back to Canada from the Netherlands, and her daughter, Robyn, lives in Calgary with her husband, Dave. Vivian’s children have blessed her with four grandchildren...Saul and Sage who live in Calgary, as well as Keira and Naomi, her little Dutch/Canadian granddaughters. Her children are a great blessing and source of inspiration to her.
Vivian has always had a desire to pursue her creative side. She began with her study of music early on, and as the years progressed, she became skilled in the making of porcelain dolls. Then Vivian began to study art, with a special interest in watercolour and acrylic painting. She works toward a goal of artistic excellence without excluding experimentation and personal expression. Vivian has become skillful and innovative in her use of colour, materials and ideas, using various techniques and styles. Her paintings demonstrate an attraction to colour, pattern and form. Vivian is drawn to the inherent luminosity of a finished watercolour painting as light passes through transparent layers of colour, as well as the vibrancy of acrylics. Her paintings are alive, and are seen as an expression of who she really is.
After retiring as a Learning Leader in education, Vivian is now actively involved in teaching art workshops and classes.
Vivian’s work has been exhibited in various art shows in Alberta, and her paintings are in collections in Canada, Europe, and the United States.
